Table read of a sitcom pilot written this week by me, Ross Backenkeller, Harri Francis, Noah Kelsey, Cleodie Schneider, India Iles.
SCRIPTYou can not "grow" a mullet, You "cut" a mullet, To be precise, you grow your hair and then you cut your mullet, If you have no hair, you need to grow your hair before you can get a perm, Perms are for people who have hair., "I have hair" they said, incredulously, Yes, but not enough hair, a shaved head does not have the required specification to qualify for "a perm", and similarly for "a mullet", I'm sorry but I will need to reject you application.

The sitcom exercise was quite good. It stressed a lot of my group out but I was happy with doing most of the heavy lifting with Noah. I couldn't really find something to write into the script but I found it a fruitful experience anyway. The creation of our own writer's room, the manifestation of the characters in our own minds, they write themselves through us as a medium. I could become Mark, Jeremy, and their words fall out of me and stream through my fingers into the keyboard and onto the screen. Perhaps it should be embarrassing how easy I found writing from the minds of two desperate and sad men to be. Perhaps it should be embarrassing how much I enjoyed it. It's a bit like bullying people who don't exist, making horrible things happen to them.
